It was an honor and a blessing to be in this month's Maryknoll magazine. It was a great article to highlight the movements happening with young people in the Diocese of New York, and to show that there is hope in our generation. This point got across very well, even if some of the details about my own life were slightly off.
I wanted to write this post to give thanks to Maryknoll, but also clarify some things for people. First off, I will not blame Maryknoll for any of the mistakes. Unfortunately I was not able to review the article before it was in print, and so maybe some things could have been fixed that way. The editor that contacted me for the article was extremely polite, and genuinely interested in all that I had been inspired to do, and have been blessed to be a part of. A plethora of questions were asked, and I guess in the final print some of the answers got mixed together. So what are the mistakes you ask?... Here they go. 1) I went to school in Spanish Harlem for Elementary through Middle School, and there I experienced being an outcast many times. I have spoken about it a lot with being an American Hispanic who did not grow up speaking Spanish, but at the same time being very "light-skinned" so being outcasted at first even by the African Americans. I have always lived in the Bronx, however and I still do until this day. 2) As some of you may or may not know, I run a multimedia company named All is Love media. Currently there are 3 recording artists, a Dj, and a poet under the brand.(Not to mention other behind the scenes roles) What I also have been blessed to be inspired to start and help run is the "AMDG Movement". This has connections to about 30 artists representing their faith through their music. Although there is a HUGE affiliation between All is Love, and the AMDG movement, the two are separate entities. 3) The AMDG movement has a 24/7 radio hosted by the app Radionomy. I myself did not start Radionomy, and to give credit where its due, it was Father Rosado who connected us to Radionomy, and it was John Levi who really laid the ground work for setting up the station. Again, I thank Maryknoll but for those who have read the article I pray this brings things to greater clarity. Much love and light! :) - The Symbol - All is Love
