The above is a photo from when my parents got married. As I look back and have been reflecting not only through these pictures and things, but just my childhood experiences I see many people genuinely seeking to do good but getting caught up. I see just the imperfections left on us from original sin, taking over with natural mistakes that don't have the guidance. I see a system in American that didn't know how to embrace people and build them up, but instead separated them and left them alone to their own destructions.
I look back and see Hope.... That even in all of these issues of this world, with its broken and separation, there is still the opportunity for growth, and there is light at the end of this tunnel of darkness. Lord may I have the strength and the vision to help us get there. Amen. - The Symbol - All is Love

Miriam Webster states Theology is "the study of religious faith, practice, and experience; especially : the study of God and of God's relation to the world". If God lives in those around us, could we not could study God through our relationships? Download + Stream song below:

- All is Love How do you express your joy? Who could you share joy with this week? Here is a collection of some moments of having fun with family, friends, etc. throughout the years keeping in mind the true reason for the joy.
"Although I have much to write to you, I do not intend to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and to speak face to face so that our joy may be complete." - 2 John 1:12 - The Symbol - All is Love The above image is of a prayer found on our "all is love" website, and has been something there since day one.
As I have been inspired and continue to grow in a multiplicity of ways; and also as all is love and my own personal ministry have continues to evolve and take new forms it is beautiful to look back on and reflect on how this prayer is still the goal. In the beginning there was nothing but a beautiful place with God, where we shared in a very deep and intimate relationship but because of sin, that relationship was broken. Yet and still, God never gave up on any of us and he continues each and every day to draw us back into that perfect relationship. In heaven one day, despite our faults and failures or mistakes... Because of our response to the action of God in our lives in one way or another we will all hopefully be reunited for eternity in love. Please pray with me, as not only I - but all is love continues to grow and be molded after God's true heart.... And also pray that we will all be inspired to do the work that it takes to bring everyone we come in contact with back to that love. Amen. - The Symbol - All is Love These above pictures I found are of my parents from about 6-7 years before I was born. I have been cleaning and going through a lot of old things to throw away lately, and stumbled upon these.

- The Symbol - All is Love People who know me, know that I absolutely love John's Gospel... The words are super poetic and artistic... The way he flips words reminds me too much of a Hip Hop artist. And so today in my daily Gospel reading I found myself in John 9 and was inspired to share with you all. Read specifically the first 3 lines...
"As he passed by he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, “Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him." Check out the irony in that!... This guy is blind so that others can SEE God. I think of myself and how so many times I try to have a complete vision or have the perfect plan, but in many ways there are always "blind spots" or areas I'm never able to predict or foresee. In this however is God truly glorified as long as I am open to his work in me; even without having all of the accolades am I able to inspire and teach by his knowledge and his power. Now fast forward to the last 3 lines of the chapter.... Then Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, so that those who do not see might see, and those who do see might become blind.” Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and said to him, “Surely we are not also blind, are we?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you are saying, ‘We see,’ so your sin remains. Like the Pharisees at the end where it says that essentially because they don't acknowledge their own personal blindness they are still filled with sin. In acknowledging how small I am before God, and humbling and bowing before him can I be healed. I have personally recently been running into many people in Authoritative positions who look down on me and others like me who come from a different background/upbringing/culture than theirs. I have been hurt to see how the Gospel has been made exclusive due to some structural organization and has excluded many. As I continue to grow in my faith and walk with God in his Church, I pray that I have the grace and the will to always surrender myself before him and allow him to be the one at work in me... Never on my own. Pray with me for humility, and for the openness to the will of our Heavenly Father. All in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen. - The Symbol - All is Love On April 7, 2017 Brandon Morel (The Symbol) and his fiancee Janet, were asked to give their testimony and give some practical application to build a relationship on God at the Goretti Group on Staten Island, Ny. The Goretti Group believes living the virtue of chastity according to our state in life allows us the freedom to become who God created us to be as either male or female and find authentic love and real happiness.

- The Symbol - All is Love View the previous post here: http://www.bethesymbol.com/blog/faith-and-fashion-pt-4 You know I love fashion . . . And at times I have learned especially recently how easily it can be a worldly attachment. I have also recognized how it can also be a cover up for a lack of true confidence and self-esteem or a based upon a need to fit in. It is what led me to the creation of the song "But I'm Fresh Tho" ... The term itself is used in arguments in my neighborhoods as a way to discredit someone else when being criticized or "dissed". For example if someone is to point out something that is a flaw about you and you don't have any response in order to dismiss their statement you may respond with "But I'm Fresh Tho".
If you follow from the very beginning when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden the first thing they did was to "cover themselves". I find it funny that this was an immediate reaction to "their eyes being opened". Some may interpret it as "bad", but looked at from another angle it may be an action of God in them to begin to repair for their sin..... Let me explain. Founder of the Idente Missionaries, Fernando Rielo once stated "Heaven is what poets recreate, and what Saints live out." And he also told the missionaries "You're only penance is to create poetry." For Fernando, poetry is not simply the working of words(although he himself was literally a poet); but even more so poetry is beauty, aesthetics, and art.... So in translation these 2 quotes say that (true) artists give us little insights into Heaven, but it is the Saints who live their lives as "art". And furthermore, in our sin and in our shortcomings, the only way we can truly show our repentance, conversion, change of heart, and to make up for the ugliness we have brought into the world we must make a conscious effort to bring more beauty into it. Ironically in John's Gospel (known for it's poetic style of writing) during Jesus' passion where he redeems or "makes up" for our sins the writer makes it a point to let people know about Jesus' "seamless robe" and how much the soldiers wanted this article of clothing. We are all sinners.... Fashion may just be one way (if intentional) to begin a process of repairing the effects of our sin in this world. Father, please accept each offering and effort of my brothers, sisters, and I to bring true art and beauty into this world. Somehow, may it repair the ugliness of the stains of original sin, and each personal sin we commit. I ask this united to the blood shed for us on the cross - The Symbol - All is Love |
