How do you view Heaven?... And more so, how can you bring a little more of the experience of Heaven to others here on earth.

The following is an adapted story I heard from a friend named Dyron, that compares two examples of a sort of Eastern spirituality which we will later examine and further adapt for ourselves here...
"On the anniversary of her Father's death this woman walked down the hill, and along a path she once walked with her Father to the riverside, and gathered flowers, also filling her bucket with water. All along the path she felt the suns rays and thanked the Heavens, for the beautiful light of the day. She later walked back along the path home and sat upon her front porch where she would once spend time with her Father listening to his stories and learning. She then began to set up an altar; blessing the water, and arranging the flowers which were chosen because they were her father's favorite color. She sat and meditated upon all of her blessings, and was filled with gratitude as she listened to the deep silence, and cool breeze blowing; remembering all that her Father had done for her to make her the woman she was today........... On the anniversary of her Father's passing, one young lady walked outside of her apartment and rode the elevator down to the first floor, walking over a few blocks to the Bodega she once did with her Father for his morning coffee. She used her EBT card to get a gallon of water, and outside purchased flowers from the older man with the cart by the train station. She walked home and sat in her living room floor, where she once listened to her Father's stories of his childhood in his home country. As she sat, she arranged an altar laying upon it the flowers that were chosen because they were the Father's favorite color and poured a glass of the Poland Spring water. She listened to the sounds of the train going by outside, and of kids playing downstairs on her block, meditating upon all of her blessings; filled with gratitude remembering all that her Father had done for her to make her the woman she was today......" Which story is more spiritual?.... In this modern world, it seems that many times we accept the first as it once was, and negate what it is now today. The reality is, although the first is beautiful it is no longer the reality of how we live today - especially when living in the modern city. I believe we do ourselves an injustice when we have not found ways to adapt for our living. Saints of the past may have rode donkeys, or walked miles to preach a message and evangelize a culture. Does riding the train across the city, or driving miles to meet a friend and pray with them make it less of an effort of spreading the Gospel? Does praying your rosary underneath a tree in a forest make it more acceptable to God than giving the effort of silencing the noise around and truly meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary in a crowded bus? The truth is this.... We need modern saints. We need ones who walk the streets of today. We need you to live Sainthood in the City. - The Symbol - All is Love I am proud to say that the all is love media team and I have finally completed "Encultured"

- The Symbol - All is Love "The Gospel is not God preaching at us, it is God living WITH us."
Do we understand the Gospel? Do we allow God to live, walk, and dwell amongst us in our daily lives? Do we bring this same Gospel to others? Or do we just expect people to already get it. I have realized more and more how in ministry so many have this expectation that people will already believe and behave in ways we deem "proper" as they come through our doors automatically. However, I have come to know that before people believe or behave, they must first feel as they belong to our church family/community. What are the ways we can make them experience God's love in this family more and more moving forward? Fernando Rielo, founder of the Idente Missionaries once wrote as a child in his own blood this prayer when he read about the lives of the Martyrs.... "I promise you Lord, to live and transmit the Gospel with the sacrifice of my life and my reputation faithful to the greatest testimony of love to die for you." For those of us that have experienced God's love and understand this Gospel.... How much do we live and transmit it to others? - The Symbol - All is Love |
