READ PREVIOUS FAITH AND FASHION POST HERE "Saints reflect the beauty and the art of God." This addition to Faith and Fashion leaves me with one thing I have been pondering upon... Color, and perspective.
How do colors coordinate? How do some compliment others better than others? How can color be be used as an eye awakening experience of God's beauty? The angles from which we see our lives will very much have an effect how we treat others, and how we treat and speak to others. Have you ever noticed that your confidence changes when you get a fresh haircut? Or have a new outfit?... Even how you do things a little more special when attending a wedding or important gathering?.... How about an interview? Think about this... If we know all that is true, and good, and beautiful comes from God and the Saints are living reflections of God, then why wouldn't you take some more time thinking out and crafting how you dress? Sanctity is giving people small insights into the wondrous beauty of Heaven... No matter how dark the world around may be. - The Symbol - All is Love “It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. Bring love into your home, for this is where our love for each other must start.” - Saint Mother Theresa of Calcutta These past weeks have been extremely busy, but also very rewarding. I have been wanting to write this blog post since I got back from my family vacation in Florida, but just haven't gotten around to doing so. God in and of himself is a community of persons.... A family. And I have been learning and appreciating this in new and deeper ways than ever before.
As a child, my grandmother's house was a place I always associated with happiness, and joy....... (AND LOTS OF DELICIOUS FOOD! lol) And as I have grown older it still represents a special place of peace and retreat for me. In fact I've started to realize that Grandma's house is the depiction of Heaven for me. The place where people however broken they may have been in their lives are welcomed and joined together in love for the heavenly feast. My family, although not perfect by a long shot has suffered and endured many trials but when we get together it is all laughter, and a good time. This recent trip had marked for me a very importantly interesting checkpoint in my life. Though many saw pictures and videos on Instagram and Facebook, etc. of going to the pool, skating, and Disney World, for me it was really sort of a deep spiritual retreat that allowed me to see where I'm at in this journey. It allowed me to start to see in a new way where I'm at in my walk with God, where I stand in my family as the oldest son and oldest grandson, as well as a cousin, nephew, and father. It also allowed me to reflect on my place in the bigger family of the church and the world as well as my role of moving us all together in love. It also has put on my heart a special way of starting to really be more intentional in my development of family... For my own personal family, and for God's. I am grateful for the experience I have had of love in this way through my family, and it is my intention to bring this to all of the others I meet. - The Symbol - All is Love |
