THANKSGIVING WEEKEND REFLECTIONS

12/1/2013

So this post, contains more pictures than my average post would have, but it was necessary to take you more into the world of this reflection.  You see us, the food, some of the setting, and more . . .

If you are one of my followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. you may have seen some videos of me and my broken Spanglish Announcer voice, or our little homemade dance party, etc.  Thanksgiving day also included a game of Jenga, Uno, and LOTS of GREAT FOOD! lol.
Our Thanksgiving lasted pretty much all weekend.  We woke up and ate breakfast together, played board games, and today being as it is December 1st collectively started making a "Jesse Tree" showing the genealogy from Adam and Eve to Jesus, and beyond.  I will post it on December 25th when we complete it.

I have to say, as we move now into this next level of the Holiday season one thing I have to be immensely grateful for is my family.  We have had our rough times, and we are not a huge extended family with tons of cousins, uncles, and aunts, etc; but as our small collection of people I have been blessed to be a part of a unit of true love.  We get on each others nerves, and I am consistently challenging everyone to go further so I receive much backlash, but we have grown to be really a family.

My mother has a grace that is supernatural.  Her strength and determination plus tender care is a combination not of this world, but truly something more.  Me and my mom have had some really great times, and also some really rough and dark moments.  Especially as a teen when my parents had split when went through some difficulties.  One thing about my mom however is that she always pushes forward.  Even when all around seems to point towards defeat and there is no sign of hope, my mother presses on.  Just a year ago being operated on for Breast Cancer, and still dancing and moving forward with a radiating joy, She is a Symbol in my life of great perseverance.

My sister and I, couldn't be much more opposite. Although we agree on some core things, our whole outlook, approach, etc are very counter intuitive to one another.  At many times it seems we are one another's biggest crosses to carry, yet there isn't a better cross I could ask for.  We challenge one another, and have grown together, having a bond inseparable. My sister is a living symbol of simplicity, purity, and deep silence.

Christian is simply a light shining bright among us.  My son who I love dearly.  Probably some may get sick of my endless #TheJoysOfFatherhood posts on social media from basic homework time, to playing, and teaching, reading and guiding along through his young life.  He continues to teach me in ways more than I think I could ever teach him.

Janet is an interesting addition.  An unseen relationship which I rejected and gave a great fight not to be a part of, has over the past year bonded and become another part of the family almost effortlessly.

I am thankful for them all - and I am thankful for you all! Those who I haven't spoken to or seen in a while, to those who I have only had contact with online, and even those of you who I have never met . . . I love you all. And I am thankful for you all. To those who I have been blessed to work with in Educational projects, to those I have worked on artistic projects with, and those who I have worked on community projects or spiritual based projects I am thankful for.  I pray that in this small microcosm of my small family, as we got to share many moments with over the past few days, playing, joking, speaking, and eating that fruits may be multiplied to all of you for greater unity in true love.
