Symbolic for 2017

Some people may say I am late with this, but I have been wanting to write here something about the New Year and my thoughts on it.... I have to say that it has much to do with growth.... Personal growth artistically, mentally, spiritually, and in my life of ministry.... Growth in my family even.

This year is about finishing projects I have started before, and completing missions that have been given to me.

Today on my way to the office I walked pass this and told I had to take a picture... The above image is one of the prayer garden at the parish by my office.  As I entered the building and saw it, immediately Tupac Shakur's poem "The Rose That Grew From The Concrete" came to mind.... And in many ways, I think that is just the perfect Symbol for the year.... The poem is as follows...

"Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared."

May your lives and mine reflect that of this rose in these modern times, with all of the struggles that come with it.  God bless in 2017.
