So in this process of continually bringing you definitions to create greater understanding for greater communication, I thought before we must move forward with some "poetic" language. To understand the word "Metaphor" is to understand that some things are just beyond words, and for this we use certain figures of speech and/or creative symbolism, imagery, similes, etc..
The root "metaphora" in Greek is broken in to two words "meta" and "phora" which mean "beyond" and "words". For example, when speaking to a woman who you think is beautiful you may say something to her like "Your eyes are stars that light up my sky." Do you mean literally that her eyes are fixed luminous points in the night sky that is a large, remote incandescent body like the sun? . . . No. What you mean is that the beauty of her eyes can be compared to the beauty of these stars and this is so indescribable by ordinary words you can only do it by comparison. Many times we use metaphors without even knowing it. For example - "I am feeling down." Are your emotions literally on the floor? Or could they be? No it is a comparison as we relate things that are higher to being greater and things that are lower to being lesser. My hope with this Definitions series is that slowly you will learn and transfer this knowledge and we may use our words more wisely to create greater unity in our communities. - The Symbol - All is Love It was a great event. The worship team from Kingsbridge came and did an amazing job, and the speaker for the event was remarkable. Food was good, and the crowd was shaking up the whole college with the noise in response to this Hip Hop with a message of #LOVE we came to bring. I don't think this will be the last time I'm at John Jay, and I pray this club continues to do great things on campus. Stay TOONED for video coming soon. . .

Here's the first single off of my homie Th0t's EP featuring me. I hope you enjoy. So today is the last day of Hannukkah, aka the Feast of the Dedication. Today we celebrate a great miracle of fire and light. Dedication is the act of consecrating an altar, temple, church, or other sacred building. It also refers to the inscription of books or other artifacts when these are specifically addressed or presented to a particular person. This practice, which once was used to gain the patronage and support of the person so addressed, is now only a mark of affection or regard. The Feast of Dedication, today Hannukkah, once also called "Feast of the Maccabees" was a Jewish festival observed for eight days from the 25th of Kislev (usually in December, but occasionally late November, due to the lunisolar calendar). It was instituted by Judas Maccabeus, his brothers, and the elders of the congregation of Israel, in the year 165 B.C. in commemoration of the reconsecration of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, and especially of the altar of burnt offering, after they had been desecrated in the persecution under Antiochus Epiphanes (168 BC). The significant happenings of the festival were the illumination of houses and synagogues, a custom probably taken over from the Feast of Tabernacles, and the recitation of Psalm 30:1-12. J. Wellhausen suggests that the feast was originally connected with the winter solstice, and only afterwards with the events narrated in Maccabees. The Feast of Dedication is also mentioned in John 10:22 where it mentions Jesus being at the Jerusalem Temple during "the Feast of Dedication" and further notes "and it was winter." The Greek term used in John is "the renewals" (Greek ta engkainia τὰ ἐγκαίνια). Josephus refers to the festival in Greek simply as "lights." This past Spring I put out The Dedication . . . A re-dedication of the temple of my body for a spiritual renewal. This project actually was a musical ritual that for me was the process of becoming The Symbol.
